Another Tolerant Leftist

That’s the great thing about the political left: you can always count on them to live up to their ideals of tolerance, diversity, etc. Take John Cusack, for example, who wishes for a Satanic death cult center at Fox News and for other persons who don’t share his political views. Ah, yes, nothing to see here, folks, just another tolerant leftist. I’m sure the Tea Party made him do it. Or it’s Bush’s fault. Or Reagan’s. Take your pick.

Genuine Racism and Good Riddance

Now here’s something you don’t see these days: a genuine bit of institutional racism overturned. When the race card is played these days it’s usually one of three things:

  1. A complete lie (e.g., the Duke stripper, Tawana Brawley, etc.)
  2. A ridiculous exaggeration (e.g., everything reminds Jesse Jackson of Selma)
  3. Or a diversion (e.g., Charlie Rangel trying to avoid his ethics woes)

But that particular story was outrageous. It’s positively awful that black students were prevented from running for school government positions because of their skin color, and the correction was long overdue. May all such genuinely racist nonsense go the way of the dodo bird and the sooner the better.

Sorry Guys, but Good Games

Today is my birthday, and I took the day off from work. I wanted to get a few things done around the house, attend to my workout early in the day, and spend a little time playing with some new “toys” to boot. Unfortunately the stuff around the house took longer than anticipated, so I’ve managed to eke out but a single hour of gaming from the day, and I feel like I owe an apology. Continue reading

Yet Another Molesting Priest

Color me disgusted that yet another Catholic priest is guilty of molesting a child. On the up side, the church is actually punishing him for breaking his vow of celibacy. Though now that I think about it maybe that’s only because the affair was strictly heterosexual…

Evil in Germany

What is it about evil and Germany that makes them as inseparable as white and sugar? It genuinely pains me to raise the question, given that my ancestry is mostly German, but cannibalism is alive and well there if this new restaurant is for real. Of course human embryos/fetuses are a delicacy in certain places in China, so maybe the better question is why such gratuitous evil exists in the first place? Asking that might strike a wee bit too closely to original sin for modern, “civilized” people to believe…

Objectivity at ABC, CBS, and NBC

Consider this Washington Examiner article about an analysis by The Center for Responsive Politics which looks at the political contributions made by those who identified themselves as employees of ABC, CBS, and NBC in 2008. The results aren’t surprising: 88% of all contributions went to democrats, a percentage that jumps to an even more tilt-worthy 94% when confined to the presidential race alone. Hat tip to PowerLine for their original posting. Continue reading

Whom Will We Prosecute?

The wheels of justice turn strangely under the Obama-idiot. Or more to the point they don’t turn at all if you’re a black man intimidating voters or an illegal alien nabbed by Arizona’s new law. But surely the strangest choice is halting the prosecution of a rag-headed Islamofascist who allegedly helped engineer the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole, killing 17 sailors and wounding 39. I’ve never found the Obama-idiot to be particularly bright, but that’s bloody ridiculous even for him.

The War That Broke Us – NOT

It’s a meme you hear repeated relentlessly in the mainstream press and the rest of the chattering class: that the reason the U.S. is so badly in debt is our “warmongering”. The truth, of course, is completely different; what’s breaking our bank is social security, medicare, medicaid, and other such entitlements. The American Thinker has a particularly good piece on the subject that highlights the war’s contribution to recent deficits. No doubt it will be picked up and reported on extensively in the press…

The Discipline of Iron

With a title like that my reader might expect tales of Conan or some freaky dominatrix in metal stilettos, but I’m talking about neither. No, this post is about bodybuilding. Continue reading

In Praise of Martinis

I’ve always been a “beer guy”, by which I mean my tastes in alcoholic beverages have never been fancy. I’m not the guy ordering the daiquiri. I’m the guy ordering the plain, simple beer, sometimes maybe a black-and-tan but that’s as complicated as I get. But I cannot deny there’s something magical about martinis. Continue reading
